Removal of the race/ethnicity correction for kidney function testing and the NICE Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) guideline: A statement from Race & Health.
Race & Health welcomes the update to the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) guidelines released on the 25th August 2021. This has removed the recommendation from the previous guideline to adjust for ethnicity when calculating kidney function (the estimated glomerular filtration rate, eGFR) in people racialised as Black. Lancet Seres: Racism, Xenophobia, and Discrimination
We will be launching The Lancet Series: Racism, Xenophobia and Discrimination, looking at the history and context of racial constructs and how they relate to health inequalities, how discrimination affects health outcomes across the life course and what can be done.
